Phillip Pendal Young Heritage Award – Entries open!

It’s that time of year again – entries have opened for the Phillip Pendal Young Heritage Award.

The South Perth Historical Society invite all students who reside or attend school or college in the City of South Perth to enter the written and photographic competition.

The annual award was inaugurated in 2009 by the Historical Society to honour Phillip Pendal who was a Member of Parliament, journalist, historian, writer and the founding president of the City of South Perth Historical Society.

Telling your story…

The final event in our storytelling series of workshops and events this summer, has us learning about how to tell our own story in the form of a family history book.

For anyone who has been doing family history research for a long time and struggling with how to put it all together into something easy to digest, this workshop may be for you.

Join other like-minded people in a free session with Mike Murray from Time Trackers about how to write a family history book. Mike will discuss:

  • how to get started
  • making it interesting
  • social history
  • putting ‘flesh on the bones’
  • story structure
  • some of the technicalities (format, layout, images, etc.)
  • publishing

and come prepared with your own questions too!
